Low message volume on Apple CarPlay

I have the same question as a post from Feb 2019, same brand of car (Lexus) and with CarPlay.

I am able to adjust volume for music, phone calls, etc. But when CarPlay is reading messages to me, there is no way to control the volume. The current volume is low and can barely be heard with road noise!!!

I've tried the volume control on the dash and the steering wheel, as well as the volume control on the phone.

When I stopped driving, I checked my iPhone settings for sound, CarPlay, and for notifications overall (followed suggestions from Feb 2019 post, plus a couple others from an online search).

If this is helpful, my vehicle is the same maker as the Feb 2019 post but different year and model. Mine is a brand new 2022 Lexus RX 450H, with the Mark Levenson sound system. My phone is iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Thanks for your help with this!

Hello Wendy_joy,

If CarPlay isn't working as expected, try the steps below. They may help to resolve your issue:

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, learn what to do.

Make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps — checking CarPlay after each step:

1.) Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
• If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
• If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled under Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Bluetooth.
2.) If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.
3.) Restart your iPhone and your car.
4.) Make sure that Siri is on.
5.) If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
6.) Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
7.) Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.
