I just upgraded to a new iphone 14 pro and transferred my settings from an older iphone. Everything is working except the facebook Messenger app.
I can't login I get this error message:
Unable to complete request. Please try again later
I'm not using a vpn. I've upgraded to the latest ios. I've deleted facebook and messenger and reinstalled both those apps. I've tried different internet connections. I've rebooted the phone.
I had the same problem and the cause was an App called “LockDown” that serves to block trackers and ads. If you have any FireWall or VPN installed, it could be the cause as well. After logging in, I enabled the App again and everything works normally.

Try this -> go to Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset [Device] -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings.
I got it working by resetting the iphone and starting over. I think its possible that a jailbreaking setting got transfered over from the old phone
If the above suggestion doesn’t work, contact facebook for support.
Still got the same problem after resetting network settings:
Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings
I updated to the latest ios 16.0.2 and its still gives the same error message in messenger:
Unable to complete request. Please try again later

Yeah right, as if Facebook EVER supplies any meaningful support or answers problems. If there is some magic way to get Facebook to actually answer, I would love to hear it!
