I don’t know how to change my passcode to unlock notes. I used to use face recognition but changed that to reply to a need by Fidelity. I can’t seem to figure out the process!! Help!!

Forgot my password to unlock notes & can’t figure out how to create a new password without knowing the old one?

You can not reset or change the password for existing encrypted notes. You can change the password that will be used on future notes, but it has no effect on those that already exist. If you can’t remember the password, you will not be able to read those notes.

There is no means to access a password-protected note other than the password.

The password used is not stored anywhere.

That data is now and will remain inaccessible until and unless you remember the password.

You need that password.

As is the case with accessing the iPhone itself, Face ID is a way to avoid entering the passcode or password quite as often, and is not a replacement for the passcode or password. It's the passcode or password (and hint, if one was specified) that's protecting the note data, and not the Face ID biometrics. Apple doesn't include a backdoor in the Notes app, nor does the AES data encryption algorithm used, so there's no bypass. You're effectively trying to break into the note, which is exactly what the password is meant to prevent.
