Watch OS 9.0 not downloading…again

Series 7 Watch, current OS version 8.7

iPhone 13 Pro Max, current OS version 16.0.2


Both devices are connected to Wi-Fi

Bandwidth is adequate, connection is stable


Download began, then paused

Getting notice: “can resume…when connected to a Wi-Fi network.”

This makes no sense, I am obviously connected to Wi-Fi


This has happened before, but have not had issues since updated to Watch OS 8.2

When you unpair your watch a backup of your health and fitness data is made automatically as long as the paired phone is signed into iCloud and the backup is uploaded to icloud,when you come to re-pair your watch you are asked if you want to set it it up as new or restore it from a backup,you choose restore from backup then all your health and fitness data is downloaded back to the phone and watch from the icloud backup and you carry on using your watch with all previous data intact.
