If you decide to stop using a recovery key:


The info. below is from Apple Support's article:

How to generate a recovery key - Apple Support


On your Mac, you can click "Turn Off" in the Recovery Key section.


Go to System Preferences > Apple ID > Account Details.

You might need to enter your Apple ID password.

Click Security.

In the Recovery Key section, click Turn Off.
