Contacts saved as web pages

Hey all. Previously if you searched a local business/restaurant in Apple Maps you had the option to add that business to your contacts, and it would save the business's Apple Maps profile page (with reviews, links, etc). Now it doesn't do that anymore. Is this a change in iOS 16? I attached screen shots below. The first one was saved from Apple Maps years ago. The second one is what shows after I deleted the contact and saved it again the same way. Thanks!

shady360,

This looks like expected behavior now. You can read an overview of iOS 16 - New Features where it does show Maps and Contacts have had new features, but it won't get into this amount of detail.

If you want to let Apple know your opinion about this feature leave Product Feedback.

Best regards.

Hey there shady360,

Upon searching for a pizza restaurant on our own iPhone with iOS 16.0.2 using the Maps app, we see the same information when tapping upon a specific location from your first screenshot. We also see the option to save it as a new contact by tapping on the share menu icon next to the location name within Maps.

Perhaps we're not understanding exactly what it is that you're asking, so the more details you provide, the better we'll be able to understand what you're asking.

In the meantime, we'd like to rule out some general possible causes:

  1. Since you have iOS 16, the latest version is iOS 16.0.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone
  3. Just in case this has to do with any apps outside of Maps, we also recommend making sure that all apps are up to date: How to manually update apps on your Apple device

Cheers.

Hey there shady360,

Thank you for sharing these additional details. Adding a location from Maps as a new contact will save it exactly as you have shown in your second screenshot. If you tap the map icon to the right of the address, it will take you to Apple Maps, potentially showing the information you're looking for.

If you would like to see different functionality than what is currently available, you would need to share your suggestion using the feedback link below.

Hi there Bruno,

Let me try to explain better. The first picture that looks like a web page from Apple Maps is actually a screen shot of the contact that was created when I used the option to save it as a contact, prior to iOS 16. After iOS 16 I noticed that various establishments weren't saving as the neat looking web pages, so I did a test and deleted Anthony's Pizza from my contacts. Then I went to Apple Maps and looked up Anthony's Pizza, and used the option to save it as a contact and it only saved the contact as the 2nd picture instead of saving it as a web page like you see in the first picture. Please let me know if that explains it better. I'm happy to help you guys in any way, including having a remote into my phone so I can show you in real time what I'm talking about.

Thanks!

Jay

Hi Chris,

Ultimately my question was, is this something Apple changed in iOS 16? Because that's not how it used to be prior to iOS 16. I've got multiple examples I could show you from the last year since we moved to FL, but before I updated to iOS 16.
