iOS 16.0.2 (20A380) battery widget displays an extra Air Pod entry with Air Pods Pro 2

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS 16.0.2. Bought the Air Pods Pro 2nd Gen at launch. I am experiencing some unexpected behavior with the stock iOS battery widget. Can see the attached screenshot, but in short, I often see a fourth item related to the Air Pod battery life. As expected the battery for the left and right Air Pod, in addition to the case are shown. But then also an additional Air Pod item is shown with very low battery and no left or right denotation. Has anybody experienced similar behavior? I’ve already tried resetting the Air Pods by forgetting the device and re-pairing, that did not fix the issue.

Are both of your AirPods making contact to charge inside the case? Is this only displaying on the widget? If you remove and add the widget again does the issue persist? When you flip the case open while on your iPhone Home Screen do you see that your battery is low there? Your answers will help us better support you.
