Hi eldcr,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. First, use the tips from If you can’t download an item from the web using Safari on Mac - Apple Support since that article specifically addresses the issue you've mentioned. There are some great suggestions there. For example, the download may be from an unidentified developer.

Next, as mentioned in Download items from the web using Safari on Mac - Apple Support, check to see which folder is being used as your default download folder. "To change where downloaded items are saved on your Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, click General, then click the “File download location” pop-up menu and choose a location."

Also, make sure that there is available storage space for the items you're trying to download. The guidance from Free up storage space on your Mac - Apple Support can help you find that and clear space if needed.

Take care.
