Distortion vs. Overdrive

Dear community!

after using both, Logic's Distortion and Overdrive plugins, on a simple sine wave, it seems as if the Overdrive plugin adds merely odd harmonics, whereas the Distortion plugin creates both, even and odd harmonics.

I wonder, why is the Overdrive plugin said to be "warmer" sounding, if we associate even harmonics with "warm sounding"?
