where are mail files saved ?
I bought a new Mac book air and need to transfer my mail personal files, where is it saved and is it backed up on the icloud

If the User is using iCloud on the New Computer - As long as the User setups up the New Computer with the Same Apple ID - all your e-mails in iCloud should appear on the new Computer
Personal experience. Have an old computer running High Sierra macOS 10.13.6 and use iCloud for e-mail. Have since purchased a new M1 Apple MBA and an M1 Mac Mini both running Monterey 12.6.
Using the Same Apple ID on all New computers and presto - Apple Mail on new machines and all the e-mails in iCloud Appear right way.
