Reply command in Outlook 16.65 freezing app

Every time after reboot of my macbook pro with Monterey 12.6 I can find random emails in outlook (local app) that, when I click the reply button, makes the outlook app show the spinning beach ball for about 20 seconds before I can start typing any text.

The emails I test are spread across different years, some just text, some contain images/newsletters, they are from different senders.

The same problem occurs in a fresh new user account in mac os using outlook.

The same problem with those emails do not show up in apple mail app with the same email account added.

After this initial freeze where outlook just load with the spinning ball, and I try any previous problematic emails again they work just fine to reply to. So this problem affects the same emails all the time but as mentioned, only the first try after reboot. Then outlook works just fine until I reboot again.

It does not seem to be related to the machine being busy booting up, I can wait 1 hour and test to reply to a message while outlook has been open for a long time.

Most messages work fine to reply to though but it happens both on emails from yesterday and from 4 years ago.

The same emails work fine to reply to on outlook web app.

I have talked to a microsoft support guy multiple times and they dont know what to make out of this.

I have completely wiped office suite including deleting library folders according to their guide

I have tested to boot in safe mode but same thing happen.

Very very strange problem. I dont know how to fix this except stop using outlook.

The problem was showing up also before I upgraded to Monterey. It started perhaps a month ago.

If anyone can give any kind of suggestion it would be very appreciated!

Hey there stephen_we,

It sounds like you've already taken a number of great steps in the right direction, including reaching out to Microsoft support. In the end, continuing to work with Microsoft will most likey be your path to resolution.

However, it would also be helpful to follow the additional steps found below.

If an app freezes or quits unexpectedly on Mac

Have a good one!
