What does the jigsaw puzzle piece icon mean in my search bar

It is normal for an icon to appear within Safari's Search field but I am unfamiliar with one resembling a puzzle piece.

Most likely, it is a Safari Extension you installed: Get extensions to customize Safari on Mac - Apple Support. No Safari Extensions are required for normal use. They are easily uninstalled.
