Why isn't the pencil icon showing up on the Bitmoji search bar on my iphone so that I can add customized text to my Bitmoji?

Memoji stickers are invisible on ios17 I go to add a Memoji sticker on a message and I can see the selector for the Memoji character I want to choose from, but the actual sticker area is just all black. However, I can tab on the black area and the Memoji sticker that would normally display in that area is added to my message. So it tells me this is purely a display issue. The stickers are there but can't see them.
