Connecting to my hotspot since the last IOS update

What on earth is going on with Apple??

Tonight I turned off my WiFi in order to connect my phone, and my other devices, to my personal hotspot. Since Apples last update this worked fine. Now when I turned off my WiFi there is no chance to connect to my hotspot. But if I keep WiFi on and set the connection to my hotspot, within a few minutes the connection go back to WiFi. Does anyone know about this? Thanks

Use these steps first

Restart the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot and the other device that needs to connect to Personal Hotspot. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS. On the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot, go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings.

If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi

The Hotspot is a carrier-specific feature. Contact your carrier, if it is not appearing on your device.

Also, check the following

  1. Network coverage and stability
  2. Data Balance
  3. On your windows (See if WiFi Auto Joins is enabled)
  4. Also, check if you have any stronger WiFi signal around your computer.

I’ve already done what you’ve suggested. I believe this is intentional by Apple and was installed with the last iOS update. WiFi is becoming obsolete due to the unlimited data plans that most of us have and to the portable WiFi devices available for sale which also run off of one’s phone data. This creates a problem for powerful cable companies and for internet providers. Since Apple works together with all of them and the other big tech companies it is in their best interests to stop allowing people to use their hotspots.
