itunes 12.12.5 crashes Windows 11

I have followed the instructions to completely remove itunes/etc/etc. before someone suggests that!

I reinstalled it from scratch. The initial problem started when a network drive where I held my photos died, so i moved the photos to a different SSD drive.

However now, it constantly crashes out, usually where trying to update photos, but sometimes straight after the backup. I have tried 2 different ipads and two iphones (X and 12 Pro). Same result each time. Is there a log of some sort that at least explain why it is failing?

Windows, Windows 10

Hello Anthitin,

You may wish to try running iTunes Diagnostics. While this step won't resolve things on its own, it can help with providing information that may be helpful: Gather and use iTunes Diagnostics in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

Run iTunes Diagnostics
1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes.
2. Open iTunes.
3. From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose Help > Run Diagnostics.
4. Choose one or all of the available tests, and click Next.
5. Run the tests. After you finish each test, you might see links to support articles that can help you resolve the issues.

We noted you mentioned trying an uninstall/reinstall of iTunes. Just to confirm, were these the steps you followed: Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later - Apple Support

Uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
1. iTunes
2. Apple Software Update
3. Apple Mobile Device Support
4. Bonjour
5. Apple Application Support 32-bit
6. Apple Application Support 64-bit

Be sure to also check for any available updates for Windows itself.

To isolate the issue further, it can also help to try creating a second iTunes library for the user account. This page will walk through the process: Use multiple iTunes libraries on PC – Apple Support

1. In the iTunes app  on your PC, choose File > Exit.
2. Hold down the Shift key while you open iTunes (go to Start, then choose iTunes > iTunes).
3. In the window that appears, do one of the following:
Create a new library: Click Create Library.
Choose a different library: Click Choose Library.

Cheers.
