I watched a YouTube video where the guy has front (ie above the touchscreen) LED lights blinking away, I think in orange and purple. The video where you can see the lights blinking away above the screen.
Every comment I've read about iPhone notifications says you can only trigger the BACK lights, which use the camera flash for notifications. But what are these lights in the video?! (I have an iPhone 13 Pro).

The flashing you are seeing in that video is NOT an LED. It is an artifact from the faceid sensor that can be picked up by a camera in some cases. It is NOT visible to the human eye.
There are no LEDs on the front of the phone.
Yes, you see that light whenever you use the microphone. If you are using the camera you will see a green light. If in that video you see a flickering red light that is the True Depth Infrared camera.
You could have read your manual and learned about the green and orange lights instead of watching a YouTube video. Or watched a YouTube video on Apple's site.
Thanks for your response, though obviously no one reads manuals! There's no way I would have picked up on this light if I'd read through the manual - I guarantee this isn't in there. It was an observation I'd seen no prior references to, and the fact that it was a Youtube video is immaterial. Thanks all the same.
Thanks Kurtosis, that explains it. I just wasn't using the word 'indicator' when searching, or I would have found this.
There are no ‘front LED lights’ on an iphone.

Thanks, though I've just realised that you CAN see an orange light, extremely visible to the human eye, in the exact same place when you make a phone call. (iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 16.0.2)
