Walkie Talkie invites on Apple Watch Ultra

My new Apple Watch ultra is having issue with the walkie talkie function. Initially we had issues with it saying one or the other of us were not available. This persisted no matter what we did: insured iWatch/iPhone was not in focus mode or silenced, and that the walkie talkie function was active and on. So we decided to remove each other from the contact and then re-invite each other. Now we can see our invite to each other on our respective devices, but we don’t not receive each others invite. Such as I invite my wife but she never gets the notification and is never presented with a means to accept my invite. We both went into setting and insured notifications were on but still nothing. I have tried turning off FaceTime and turning it back on as suggested by one community member but no joy. My wife has the 13 max pro iPhone and I the 12 max pro. And help would be appreciated.
