I have purchased a 13pro max. I have an iPad charger with usb port. So if I use the old 12watt charger to charge my 13pro max, will it damage or harm the battery or device? Or it’s just fine to charge it with the old 12watt iPad charger?

It won't harm the phone.

Be aware that if you want to fast charge you will need a power adapter of 18 watts or larger. See: Fast charge your iPhone - Apple Support
