Caution for US IPhone 14/14 pro user- avoid US models with esim only
I already knew going in that this was going to be disaster for traveler. Despite mis-information by Apple on ESIM support, the US iPhone 14/14 pro is going to be a glorified brick or get used to expensive roaming options.
As of today I 0 for 2 in countries I have visited.
- Japan- no esim with local number.
- Singapore- M1 on its website stated pre-paid esim is available. However upon arriving on NH801 and 45 minutes talking to 4 separate Changi recommends store on M1 pre-paid esim. The answer is NO. Not available at airport when you land. Even as of now- I don't think even M1 store in the city have pre-paid esim.
So your only options as traveler
- Data only with either expensive roaming or Airalo (3rd party esim).
- Don't get US model iPhone 14/14 Pro. Get oversea version if you need local number.
