iPhones sharing Apple ID

I have recently purchased an IPhone 14 Pro Max, once it is delivered and I set it up I want to use my Apple ID that I already use on my current IPhone but also use it on this phone. I’ve been told I should do this without mirroring, so apps I download and photos I take are not automatically shared between the two phones, but if I turn off mirroring would the same subscriptions for apps/I Cloud be shared on the two phones?

If you use the same Apple ID on both phones, the same subscriptions and apps should be shared on both phones.

But I was told if I don’t mirror/sync the two phones then the same apps won’t be shared on them both. I don’t necessarily want all of the same apps, I was just more concerned about the subscriptions as I don’t want to pay for 2

The two phones should sync because they are using the same Apple ID.
