When connecting to TV through HDMI, I hear sound but no video. Why?

On my MacBook Air, my HDMI adapter allows me to see both picture and sound, but with my MacBook Pro, I can only hear sound, can't see a picture on the screen.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.6

Newer Macs now seem to be looking at errors reports sent back from the display, that indicate the display can't quite meet the clean signal requirement and is generating errors.


You may need to use a cable marked 'Premium', or a better adapter.
