rapportd requests from weird IP

Hi

For the past 2 or 3 weeks I am getting requests for a weird IPv6 IP address to connect via rapportd: Can't list here for security reasons. Is there a way to find out where that IP address is located?

Thanks

rapportd is a normal macOS process used to communicate with devices on its local network. Isolating the geographical location of those devices (if that's what you are seeking) is not germane to its purpose.

Are you asking for for a method to generally correlate an IPv6 address to a geographical location? There are a number of IPv6 lookup tools available if that is what you are seeking.

No more so than attempting to exploit potential vulnerabilities in any device, and Apple constantly ensures macOS is as secure as can possibly be attained for any Internet-connected device.

Ports used by Apple products are publicly known: TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products. rapportd is just one of many processes that use certain ports for discovery purposes, so that your Apple products can communicate with one another.
