My iPhone 14 Pro Max won't turn on

I assumed it was a faulty power cord and my phone had died over night. Fast forward to 5:30am, I am frantically swapping cords and power outlets trying to get it to charge (assuming it was dead)

Now fully awake and frustrated I found this thread and fixed the problem within 60 seconds. Thank you!

The trick worked for me too. It took a few times, but it worked. So sad because I just got this iphone 14 pro max in January 2023 brand new and this is the third time this has happened after an ios update. Apple really needs to make this a standard warning.

Well I went to apple they did the up down and power on a few times and told me they it probably got stuck after updating or it was a bad app that didn't update. But it's fixed now but im scared because I use my phone for alarm clock, I'm going to purchase a regular alarm clock ASAP. Thanks to the community for all the post and help

I've had the same issue twice now. The volume + power button trick works. But I've been close to oversleep both times. The apple watch won't alarm if the alarm was set up on the phone. So that's no help either.

I wish there was a way to send in some logs to Apple or something. I don't see anything that I've done differently the nights before these crashes happened that would explain any of this.

Thank you so much! It happened to me this morning (May 24, 2023) and I thought the phone had died. Tried the recommendation of how to press the buttons to troubleshoot and it worked.

Same problem today and your fix worked instantly. It inspired me to join the forum and share my input.

Same happened to me this morning after a night on charge. I have had this once before but on that occasion the forced reboot worked relatively easily.

Today I repeated the steps several times and it wouldn’t come back on. In the end I did the steps again but just kept holding the side button for what seemed like a very long time, I would say at least a minute maybe more. Finally an apple appeared to much relief!

Same thing just happened to me this morning. Actually made late for work. Alarm didn’t go off due to the phone being completely dead.

Had the same issue this morning. Plugged in charging overnight, and found the device unresponsive in the morning, very frustrating. Had no issue with my xs max before.

I was confused if you needed to continually tap the up/down while holding the on button - NO

Further down in the responses I saw this - and it worked.

Step to restart iPhone 14 :-

1. Press volume “button up” once n release

2. Press volume “button down” once n release

3. Press start button n hold until the phone is on (it takes less then 1 min)

Yes , same in both are not working . For the watch is battery issue . And phone is not turning onX

Thank you! I was trying this and was holding power button for over ten seconds, but then gave up. Your comment on holding power button for a minute or so was key, it finally worked!
