How do I initialize a Thunderbolt 3 SSD for use on a new iMac Pro 24" M1

Connect the drive.

Launch Disk Utility.

Select the DEVICE by its immutable manufacturer-given device-name.

Choose ERASE.


if you don't see the Device=name, use the tiny View menu to "show all devices"


it refuses to erase, IMMEDIATELY ask again.
