AirPods Pro (2nd generation) drops sound – left, right or both buds - when connected to Garmin watch.

Hi all,

I have been experiencing weird issue from day one since I got my new AirPods Pro 2(nd).

When I connect it to my Garmin (Fenix 6) watch like for a run – so phone is not present – and similar locations the sound simply cuts. Sometimes the left bud, sometimes the right, and sometimes both of them. There are times when it can play flawlessly for 20 minutes, and then every few minutes it happens or so. I figured there must be some kind of interference, because when I tried with older AirPods, and Samsung Galaxy Buds the same location make the buds some kind of echo for like a millisec or so, but NO drops.

This weekend I did a long run (2h+) and I needed to reconnect 21 times.

Also, this is my second AirPods Pro 2, because I sent the first back right after I experienced this "bug", but the problem stands still ever since.

Anyone experienced anything similar?

PS: I tried everything to fix it myself, ie: firmware update, repair, reset, etc.

I had the chance to speak with a senior, official Apple representative and he said that in order to narrow the problem down, we need to isolate the cases as much as possible. Meaning: I should go for this long – even same path – run with buds connected to my phone – which I did, and no drops happened at the previous locations that had caused the interference before. That would mean that the watch's firmvare cannot handle this new AirPods itself. We should report to Garmin I guess.

I have the same problem with my Garmin 255M. Went to the gym yesterday, lost the connection with the AirPods Pro 2 several times. Have to reconnect to the watch a few times on every run, because one or both buds lost the connection. So frustrating. Am in contact with Garmin support. Hope they can update the watch eventually so they can handle these new AirPods Pro. Have all updates, tried wearing the watch on my right arm...but still the same problem.
