iCal delegation

Hi. I am new to this whole "apple" situation, so please be gentle.

I created a work calendar on iCal, have successfully shared it with all. I now would like to add my boss as a delegate so she has control of events, can make changes, etc. I followed directions (as one learns to do when using a PC) however the error, (or Apple's convincing refusal to do what I ask) says 'this server doesn't support delegation for this account'.

Can you please advise me on the best route to give iCal control to another person?

Thank you!

Hello, Jrescuedog.

Let's start off by checking the helpful steps in this article which can help with this issue: Share calendar accounts on Mac - Apple Support. Make sure to follow these steps:

    1. "In the Calendar app  on your Mac, choose Calendar > Preferences, then click Accounts.
    2. Select the calendar account.
    3. Click Delegation, click Edit, then click the Add button .
    4. Enter the name of the person you want to give access to, then choose his or her name from the list that appears.
      • If you’re giving access to a CalDAV account, select the Allow Write checkbox to let the person edit your calendars.
      • If you’re giving access to an Exchange account, select the person’s level of access from the Calendars column."

Instead of sharing your entire account, you can share individual calendars. This is explained further here: Share individual CalDAV calendars on Mac - Apple Support.

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue so we can look into this further with you. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
