Why are some of my stocks not updating?

IOS versiion is 16.0.2. watchOS version is 9.0.2.

A month or two ago (perhaps three), some of my stocks on my Modular watch face quit updating. Some of them update just fine as I scroll thru them and one will update and shows me "Real Time Price". But, some of them never update. I have to remove them and add them again. I always see "Updated on xx/yy/zz ..." I see that soon after removing and adding them again.

I've tried restarting the watch, restarting the phone. Removing the stocks and adding them. Removing the complication and adding it back. Today I even removed the Modular face and added it back.

I've tried background updating - turn off and back on as that's about the only "fix" I've seen on the forums (and it was quite old). This is something that started recently. This is my primary face and I rarely use another one.

Reordering doesn't help either. No matter what I do, the same stocks only get one update and then none after that.

Watch is Series 4. Siri knows I've been looking at the new Ultra but I'm not a conspiracy minded person. Am I, Siri?

Hi rdholland77,

By "background updating", are you referring to Background App Refresh settings? If not, please ensure this service is configured for the Stocks app both on your paired iPhone (go to Settings, then Stocks, and enable Background App Refresh and Cellular Data) as well as in the Apple Watch app (Apple Watch App, then General, then Background App Refresh) and retest.

If still not refreshing as expected, use Apple Support to connect with AppleCare support to investigate this behavior further.

Regards.
