Change the way Siri pronounces a name

How can I make Siri change the way they pronounce a name? It used to be so easy to just tell Siri, but now there are these confusing phonetic and pronunciation fields that don’t even seem to work.

There are some online guides on how to write pronunciations, but the Wikipedia method would also work. I understand that it is a complex process, and if you feel like Apple should change it you can send them feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple.

Hello,

As you mentioned, the only way to change how Siri pronounces a name (which isn't yours) is by adding a phonetic pronunciation to the contact of the person you want to change the name of. You can look up, then copy and paste the pronunciation into the Contacts app. If you need more info on how to do this, feel free to ask. Thanks for reaching out! -Drake

Does this mean I have to know IPA or find someone in Wikipedia whose name sounds the same and add that? It's a lot more work than used to be needed. Or do I just make up my own pronunciation approximations?
