iOS 16 messed up Lock Screen quick access to camera

I loved the quick wipe right access to the camera from the lock screen, it always worked perfectly.

Now I've upgraded to iOS 16 the camera swipe fails most of the time, I swipe and nothing happens, if there's any notifications on the screen I have to clear them first and then it 'might' work although most of the time it still doesn't.

I've missed so many photo and videos opportunities due to this issue, is this a known problem, will a fix be released?

Tap quickly once on the lock screen and the camera button (and flashlight button) will appear. And you can also swipe to get to the camera. This change was probably made because of the constant stream of complaints that the light and camera buttons were too easy to hit accidentally.

What happens when you tap once, then swipe? That works for me every time.

that's exactly what my video above shows me doing.

I have been using this feature for a long time so I know how it works, since iOS 16 it has started doing this.

Maybe it's connected to the dynamic lock screen image, I've now changed it to a static image and I'll see how that goes.

Tap iPhone to open lock screen. Swipe from RIGHT to LEFT. Camera opens.

I know about the camera and torch buttons, that is not part of the issue.

It's the Swipe that is buggy and fails to work 99% of the time, I just tried it again and I had to swipe 5 times before the camera opened, before iOS 16 it worked perfectly each time.

Works perfectly and every time on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Dynamic Photos don't work on the Lock Screen in iOS 16. Let us know if that was your issue.
