No. The monthly fee is for Apple's streaming service called Apple TV+

You can find more information about Apple TV+ at the webpage: Apple TV+

If you haven't yet set up your new old Apple TV have a look at Set up your Apple TV

There are some user guides for the device at Apple - Support - Manuals

If you encounter difficulties with the device your second port of call is Apple TV - Official Apple Support. Your first action is to ask a query in these forums 😀

You're welcome.

I have a ten year old Apple TV (2nd generation) in a second TV room which, when I'm exiled from my main TV because my daughter want's to use her gaming console, I use for Netflix or streaming content to the TV. It doesn't have all the whistles and bells that my newish Apple TV 4K has but I will continue to get some value from it for some time to come. I hope you enjoy your device also.
