I updated to iOS16 & logging into appstore to download apps has been a problem. On the log in screen it tells me to put my apple iD instead the text box that appears is for password. Whether i put my password or apple iD it doesnt work

Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."
If that doesn't resolve the issue, does your iPhone need updating to iOS 16.0.3? Do you have a recent backup for the data in your iPhone in iCloud or your computer? If not, we recommend that you create one as described here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Thanks for reaching back out. Try signing in using a browser on a computer and see if it allows you log in with the Apple ID and password without an issue: Manage your Apple ID. If you run into an issue with the password, go ahead and follow the steps to reset it here: If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
Once signed in, go back to Settings on the iPhone to try signing in again.

I restarted & then updated my phone & restarted again & still the same issue. What else can i do?
