Voice to text is not working . The microphone is enabled and works in other apps, just not messages.

So I went into settings, and then general, and then keyboard and last, literally turned the enable dictation off and then back to on and it fixed the problem. I know it is ridiculously simple. Just to clarify, it was already on enable dictation but turning it off and then back on again worked for me. Hope it helps

Suddenly there is no option to send voice texts in the messaging interface. The user-interface has changed. The microphone icons available only function in dictation mode.

It's getting old dealing with large companies like Apple iOS and Google Chrome, Windows OS. Always making dramatic changes to core user interfaces and altering fundamental tasks. In there attempts to make life easier, make it more complicated. Can I get an amen?

Good evening: Since my phone (iPhone 11 Pro Max) was actualized to IOS 17.3 , I have not been able to send voice messages. I use them daily x my work, so this is a very negative situation for me. I agree that instead of blaming users, or giving us directions that don’t fix the problem, I hope that Apple should find a way to FIX IT! There must be a glitch on your IOS 17.3 . I hope someone from APPLE will listen to all your users complains about this subject! Thanks
Did this ever get resolved? I have the exact same issue with Text and Email only AND the microphone icon shows on both apps. This worked a week ago and stopped around the same time as an update (on 17.4 (215E5195e))
Voice recorder works, Siri work, i havent checked many other apps
14 Pro Max: After updating to 17.4, all speech to text dictation stopped working. I’m visually impaired thusly typing takes strain and effort; this is unsatisfactory. Siri works. I’ve tried every canned response given, and looking through support forums and online there is definitely an issue.
17.3 I noticed speech to text acting iffy, like cutting you off before your done speaking.
BTW, this took me 15 minutes to write, thanks Apple. This Accessibility issue needs to be addressed ASAP. Otherwise, what’s the point?
Same for me with iPhone 11 Pro. Worked great up until yesterday
I’m having this exact problem with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. All the correct settings are on. But now talk to text & Siri voice activation are not working.
Exactly and my voicemail is not longer there either.
Shucks I tried that but it didn’t restore Voice-to-text for me :(
My microphone stopped working after it was updated last night . Won’t work on google or texting .Siri is the only thing that it works for . Not happy tryed everything

Mine worked one second and the next it didn't! Talk to text microphone stopped working in the middle of a text conversation! Not able to get it working again, tried shutting down, etc.

I am having the same issue with my XR. I have tried all the tutorials and suggestions on how to fix it. I wonder if it’s completely broken or unfixable?
