How do I stop new phone trying to transfer number over?

Hi. My wife got a new iPhone, and we transferred everything over from her old iphone.

It seemed to have worked ok, but whenever she sits near someone else with an iPhone, they get this message saying do you want to move this number to your new iPhone.

It’s as though the new phone hasn’t finished setting up?!

Any ideas please!

I spent some time today on the phone to Apple tech support.

Agreed that the phone seems to have not fully completed set up, but everything else about the phone was correct and there were no options to continue with the set up process.

Apparently there seems to have been an issue with the set up process.

The only option was to wipe the phone and start set up again from scratch.

A bit awkward, but fortunately this does seem to have resolved the issue.

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. If you are receiving the message shown in the screenshot you posted, it means that the transfer has not finished. Here are steps from the following link to help: Use Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone or iPad - Apple Support


1. Turn on your new device and place it near your current device. Follow the onscreen instructions to get started. If the prompt to set up your new device disappears from your current device, restart both devices.
2. Connect your device to Wi-Fi or your device's cellular network.
3. You might be asked to activate your cellular service.
4. Set up Face ID or Touch ID.
5. Choose how you want to transfer your data.
-If you download from iCloud, your apps and data download in the background so that you can start using your new device right away.
-If you transfer directly from your previous device, you'll need to wait for the transfer to complete on both devices before you can use them.
6. Keep your devices near each other and plugged in to power until the data migration process is complete. Transfer times can vary based on factors such as network conditions and the amount of data being transferred.
