HomePod not accessing Apple Music account

Recently, my HomePod stopped accessing my Apple Music account to play music. Whenever I ask Siri to play a song, she says “…it’s not in my… library”. So, something changed with HomePod and my Apple ID which has an Apple Music subscription. I noticed in the HomePod settings, there is a section titled, “HOMEPOD ACCOUNT”. There is no account shown in this field. Should there be? And when I touch “Sign In”, nothing happens.

Any guidance on re-establishing my HomePod’s connection to Apple Music appreciated.

PS - I can access Apple Music same as always from my iPhone. And then I can transfer it to the HomePod to play.

thanks!

HomePod, 16

Thanks for your reply. With help from Apple Support I got the HomePod reset. I may not state the steps is exactly, but we did the following to precipitate a full reset -

1) unplugged, waited 10 seconds, plugged back in

2) held the top center (where Siri lights up) for maybe 10 seconds; it turns white (I think), then rings 3x; I think this indicates the reset is starting

3) in Home app on iPhone, re-add the appliance (I.e. the HomePod)

4) Go through Setup steps; it ges all your settings (I.e. WiFi, Apple ID…) from iPhone

5) All good. Siri back to accessing Apple Music

that’s it.

Hello kcoghlan7,

If it's currently unable to play anything from the Apple Music service, you'll want to confirm that you have that set up. Go into the Home app, touch and hold on the HomePod and select Accessory Details, then scroll to the bottom and press the settings (gear icon) at the bottom right. On that page go to the Music & Podcasts section and make sure you're signed into the Apple ID you use for Apple Music. If you're not already signed in, do that.

You can try restarting the HomePod. You can restart it through the Home app with these steps:

  1. Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac that's signed in with the Apple ID that you used to set up HomePod.
  2. Tap or click HomePod.
  3. Tap or click the Settings icon , scroll down, then tap or click Restart HomePod.

Or if the plug is easily accessible, just unplug it for a few seconds then plug it back in.

If HomePod mini or HomePod isn't responding

You can try resetting the HomePod. Here's the steps to do that in the Home app:

  1. Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac that's signed in with the Apple ID that you used to set up HomePod.
  2. Tap or click HomePod.
  3. Select the Settings icon  or scroll down to HomePod settings.
  4. Select Reset HomePod.
  5. Select Reset.

Reset HomePod

Set up and use HomePod mini and HomePod

If it's still not working properly, you'd want to contact Apple to report the issue: Get Support

Cheers!
