Voice-to-text cutting off first word

How can I stop my first word or two from being cut off when texting by voice?

Voice dictation iPhone - 'new paragraph' no longer working but the words are being typed! I am on iOS Version 17.4 iPhone 15 Pro Max. I use voice dictation a lot. Until recently, the instruction 'New Paragraph' would drop a couple of lines. Now it actually types out the words 'new paragraph'! The instruction 'New Line' still works, and I can of course say that twice to get a new paragraph, but I have got so used to using the 'new paragraph' instruction, so all my emails, messages and notes are littered with these words! If anyone can help me with a solution I would be eternally grateful. James

What’s going on with voice to text? I used voice to text a lot for my work and for my personal life. I use it basically all the time and it has been amazing however recently it is broken to the extent that it’s basically unusable. I will say something, and then press the microphone button to finish the sentence. All the paragraph and half of the words in the text will just disappear. This means I have to go through a manually input them all which is just a massive waste of time. Another thing that it seems to do is it will reproduce the sentence twice so I will say something and then when I say “new para” the text that was written will reappear again. I then have to spend time deleting it and delete function on iOS is very slow for some reason. I really don’t understand how you took something that worked so well and basically destroyed it. Is there something that I’m missing? Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! Is this occurring in a specific app? Do you have Dictation enabled? You can check by going the following:

1. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard.

2. Turn on Enable Dictation.
