Airpods Pro 2 and Alarms on iPhone

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and recently got airpods pro 2. When I set an alarm on my phone it goes off only in my ear pods, which is a problem because if my airpods fall out while sleeping I over sleep and late for work. I often rely on the airpods for noise cancellation to get to sleep. The old airpods and version of iOS never had this problem. Previously both my air pod pros and iphone alarms would both go off. Ensuring I never missed my alarm, even if when my airpods fell out while sleeping.

Is this a bug? An intentional change? Is there a work around? Will a fix be coming?

Hey mundanepreference,

We see you're having an issue with the alarm only playing in the AirPods when they are connected to the iPhone.

"If you connect headphones to your iPhone, the alarm plays at a set volume through the built-in speakers on your iPhone as well as wired and wireless headphones." For more information, click here: How to set and change alarms on your iPhone.

Since iOS versions include updates and the Clock app is part of the iOS, make sure your iPhone is up-to-date by following the steps in this article or below: Update your iPhone or iPad.

  1. "Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. Choose the software update that you want to install. You can choose to stay on iOS or iPadOS 15 and still get important security updates. Or you can choose the option to upgrade to iOS or iPadOS 16."

If you continue to notice the issue, test with a different pair of Bluetooth headphones. This information will help us isolate the issue.

Take care.
