Compressor Instances

I have a MacBook Pro 16 with 32 gigs of Ram and an M1 Max processor with 32 gpu cores.

I want to add extra instances in Compressor, but I appear to have only one available though. Is this right?

Mac Studio M2 Ultra max Compressor Instances? Hi all, I've got a 2023 Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra chip. 192GB or RAM and 24 cores. I'm doing some batch work in Compressor, and am surprised that it's only letting me create a total of 5 instances. During a batch, when I look at the CPU monitor, it appears that (roughly)3/4 of the cores are idle. Is Compressor really not able to create more than 5 instances on a top spec machine? thx!

number of instances in compressor the same on imac 4 core and powerbook 10 core? Why in compressor can I only select the same number of instances (both 1) on 2017 imac (4 cores, 40Gb)and on 2021 powerbook pro 16 (10 cores, 16 Gb). According to the helppage it must be 0 en 1 or 1 and 2 instances.

Can the new 2023 15" Apple Macbook Air handle architectural programs such as Vectorworks, Revit and Photoshop? I'm an architect and I travel, therefore I am interested in the Macbook air (15") namely for its weight (and price!) but I am uncertain as to whether it would be capable of handling the programs I run. I currently have a 2017 15" Macbook Pro which works well, so it would be good first of all to know: Will the new 2023 15" Macbook Air be an upgrade to my existing one? Will it be able to handle my programs including Vectorworks, Sketchup, Revit and Photoshop? Comparing the new Air to the new Pro, I've noticed two main differences: The Air's has a CPU-8 and GPU-10, over the Pro's CPU-12 and GPU-19 The M2 Chip in the Air is not "PRO" NB. If I were to get the Air, I would upgrade the Unified Memory from 8gb to 16gb (Or potentially 24gb if recommended?) Thank you for your help in advance!

I don’t have this model, but I find it a bit surprising that you can only add 1 additional instance. For comparison, my 2019 Intel (16” corei9, with 8 CPU cores) it allows for 3 additional instances.

I never found it written anywhere a list of how many additional instances can be run in each msc model.

Let’s wait for others with a machine like yours to tell us if they have the same limit of 1.

Yup. Just come from an i9 myself and I could access 3 as well on that.
