apple music widget

ive been getting tired of seeing the same artist and album on my widget. its basically useless to me because its a waste. i listened to this album about a year ago and since have not listened to it. i play a bunch of music on playlists and searches everyday but the songs i literally recently played never show up to the recently played widget. i cleared my listening history and its still not gone. i try to get rid of it but i cant get rid of it. its been stuck like this for a good 8 months, another thing is that i have not used the widget consistently for 8 months. ive tried updating my phone and doing everything i can to get rid of it but its stubborn and sticks there forever.

Hello crecor,

We note you mentioned updating iOS. Be sure to check if the device is using the latest iOS version (16.0.3 at the moment), as this will ensure the latest fixes/improvements have been applied: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.

2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.

3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.

4. Choose the software update that you want to install. You can choose to stay on iOS or iPadOS 15 and still get important security updates. Or you can choose the option to upgrade to iOS or iPadOS 16.

It may also help to try fully removing the widget and then re-adding it back to the Home Screen: How to add and edit widgets on your iPhone - Apple Support

How to remove widgets

1. Touch and hold the widget that you want to remove.

2. Tap Remove Widget.

3. Tap Remove again to confirm.

It may also help to see if any of the other sizes for the Music widget are able to refresh as expected.
