iTunes has just bricked my iPod

My old computer broke & I got a new one. The new iTunes said I have to delete my iPod & resync with the new computer.

I followed the steps & then during the restore process the iPod rebooted. Then iTunes said "this iPod was previously in DFU mode, but restarted & is no longer in DFU mode. To restore this iPod from DFU mode, disconnect it & place it in DFU mode again."

I searched online how to enter DFU mode & I seem to be able to do that as the screen goes black & does not show the "connect to iTunes" screen.

In this situation iTunes then says "iTunes has detected an iPod in DFU mode you must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes"

I click OK, then "restore iPod"

it says "are you sure?" etc

I click "restore & update"

Then iTunes goes back to the first step " "this iPod was previously in DFU mode, ... "

I have tried this about 10 times, turned off the computer & the ipod, disconnected, but every time its the same loop.

I would have been better off just not syncing & keeping the ipod with the existing music.

Its an old iPod touch, 3rd gen i think. 64gb, it had iOS 6.1x & could not go higher.

Thanks.

After almost an hour on the phone to support they were unable to solve the issue & gave up.

The final suggestion was to book a Genius appointment, but for me this is difficult due to the long distance to the nearest store & no car. They wont allow me to post it in unfortunately.

So that's it, just buy a new mp3 player & lose access to 500 or so DRM tracks I bought on iTunes that will only play on an iPod.
