The instant credit would have happened prior to completing the purchase if you opted to finance. If this did not happen and you included your intent to trade in during the purchase process you need to contact Apple. If you did the trade in before or after the purchase then you would be receiving a gift card not an instant credit. At any rate, contact Apple directly for further assistance
