Can anyone provide the steps to batch import 150GB of mp3, m4a and m4p music files from an external hard drive into my Windows Apple Music? I would like to merge them with my current library and keep them on my computer. I am running the latest versions of Windows and Apple Music for Windows.
File > Add Folder to Library... You cannot import locally stored Apple Music DRM protected .m4p files, these must be downloaded and validated by iTunes as it does so.

Maybe I'm not explaining myself correctly. I have been an iTunes/Apple Music subscriber since 2007. Apple Match came along and blew away half a million song files from personal digitized CDs I had uploaded to iTunes. Since then I run everything from an external hard drive -- it contains mp3, m4a and m4p. I have a new computer now with a lot of space and would like to batch move all the music to my computer. What are the exact baby steps to do this? Sorry for being confused.

If you're an Apple Music subscriber you can choose what to add to your cloud library, and you can select content that is currently in the cloud to download for offline use.
