Security Software for iPhone

Yesterday, I was shopping in Walmart and when I got home, I found a SPAM email with an invoice that was sent to me 30 minutes after the transaction for an invoice of $991.00. The sender and receiver were the same name in Hawaii. Do you think that there could have been some scamming device near the checkout line getting information from customer's cell phones? I have seen answers previously in the group that security software is not needed because iPhones have good security. However, I am not sure now and considering now of adding security to my iPhone. I use ESET at home but don't see that it protects my home spam emails nor does Xfinity do a good job either. Appreciate anyone's thoughts.

Hi isj1,

We'd like to help out! What you received is likely just a spam email and has no connection to your device. As long as you don't click on the links or provide any of your details, you should be fine. Apple has some great tips for identifying and reporting spam and phishing, which you may find helpful. We've included a link for you below.

Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams

Additionally, the best way to keep your device secure is to be sure to keep your device updates with the latest iOS software updates, each release contains bug fixes and addresses the latest ever-evolving security risks.

Cheers!

Thank you very much for your comment. I do keep up with my updates. A friend told me the same thing but having received it 30 minutes after I left the store is scary. I get lots of spam and always send it to my carrier via an attachment. I will check online and see what suggestions Apple has for dealing with the spam.

Thank you again!

Ilene
