Why does Apple not support Favicons/Icon previews in the Favourites menu options (with no title)?
I'm trying to make the switch from Chrome to Safari and am struggling to understand some of the design decisions, including, why does Safari not think it's relevant to show favicon in the header?
- Lackluster extensions are the number one friction point when moving across (which I was ready to look past); and
- The lack of favicon/icon previews is my new second biggest friction point.
If Apple/Safari team are making the conscious design choice that bookmarks must have a title, why do they allow them to not have titles and look like blank tiles? This UI is gross and unusable.
It feels like they're trying to force users down a poor UI /design path but don't want to make it so obvious that they still want the ability to 'say' they have the same functionality as a browser like Chrome; when in reality, it is just emphasizing the benefits of using Chrome.
Can someone help me understand why this functionality of previewing tab icons in the favorites bar doesn't exist, yet having a 'blank square favorite button' is seemingly ok for Apple?
