How can I erase everything on my PowerBook G4?

Can i erase everything and start from scratch and use a new password. I'm not interested in the previous owners info. Don't want, need or desire to have it. I just want a working product or fresh start. The mac opens/starts up ok and i can use almost everything...but asks for admin password before letting me carry on too far as it were, is or whatever. ?

Yes you can erase everything but you will need to install an operating system. Mac OS 9 and early OS X versions were included on CD or DVD ROM discs that need to accompany those Macs from cradle to grave.

The one for your G4 looks like this:

You might be able to find one at a swap meet.
