Chances are, you cannot, unfortunately.

I am assuming you are referring to Target Display Mode, as stated there is a high likelyhood you cannot use your iMac as a display for the MBP. Please carefully review Target Display Mode (Target Display Mode) and you will see the very narrow set of Macs that will work together.
Please remember, Macs are computers they are not external displays. If your MBP needs an external display, please buy one.
