Gift cards are not supported as explained in the support document you posted from.
- You can't use credit cards with Apple Cash, and you might not be able to use some prepaid cards. You can't add money from a gift card, even if it's already in Wallet.
Some Prepaid Visa and Master Cards can be used to transfer fund into Apple Cash, however there is no list of which ones are supported. You will need to try them and see if they work.
