Add another user on my MAC

How do I do this? I went into Users & Groups and when I click lock to make changes the system will not accept my password. What gives?

You then click the one you want to log in to, then it asks you for the password. This is surprising, because you have the "name and password" option selected in the lock screen settings. Interestingly the heading does say "when switching user". I can also confirm that it works in that case and shows two boxes (one for name the other for password). What I am confused about is: why am I only shown this options when switching user, but not when logging in for the first time? This feels quite unintuitive.

macbook pro asking for name and password when starting up I really dont want to have to tyope my name and password every time i restart my computer. Password... sure. But There must be a way to avoid having to enter my name? There used to be a way to do this by going into "Users and Groups" and set it to just ask for a password in Login Options. But in Ventura, I can't find that. I'm on a brand new Macbook Pro M2 14" running Ventura 13.4.1. Does anyone know how I can set it to just ask for a password when I restart?

Users & Groups within my MacBook MacBook (white plastic case) Mid 2010 Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6. I know it's older than Moses but I would imagine that this Users & Groups are the same as my 2019 iMac 27", Big Sur Mac OS X Monterey 12.6.1. So: from the MacBook, and when in System Preferences>>Users & Groups, I am unable to, when clicking on the lock icon, unlock things. My MacBook is telling me that the username is incorrect (I did not change it), and the descriptor somehow was changed from Administrator to Standard - not done by me. No one else touches the MacBook. So I somehow did this. Besides a complete restore, is there anything else?

You need to enter the user and password of an admin account to authenticate.

Is the account you’re using an admin?

Correct (verified) password?
