my phone says iphone locked to owner

Heres as far as I get:

I called Apple Support. I was told that the carrier ATT has to unlock my Sim. AppleCare had me log into my iCloud (with w/screen share on (?) & said then told me to remove my iPhone from find my iPhone. I will wait for ATT a little longer before I go to an ATT store.

I changed my iCloud password afterwards...BTW

I have already entered my iCloud email address and password (if that’s what you mean by username). It won’t let me get past that same “phone locked to user”screen.

Niel, I am the owner I have the phone. I am trying to port the same phone (iPhone 8plus) from ATT to Verizon. I am able to log into my iCloud but where do I go from from there?

I am the original owner. I am not trying to sell the phone, just change carriers.

I have already requested an unlock from ATT.
