how can I swipe left for trash?

Thanks for providing the details. I am also using iOS 16 and the Apple Mail app. I can swipe Left on an individual mail and the trash option shows up as long as do a long swipe left.

I'm in Mail, Inbox.
I can remember for years that swiping left on an individual email gives the option to send it to Trash by tapping the red square. Now, most times my only option is Archiving by tapping a purple square. Is there a setting to make the default Trash?
