How to Change the TV Library Name in the MacOS TV.app?

In iTunes, it was Settings > General > Library Name… not anymore. Have they really removed this?

(macOS Monterey)

On macOS 10.15 or later, the Home Sharing settings, including library name, are now set in System Preferences﹥Sharing﹥☑︎ Media Sharing﹥☑︎ Home Sharing﹥.

I created two TV libraries by option-launching the TV app: the first I changed the name using Sharing preferences to ‘Onboard’ (on the internal SSD of the Mac Studio) and then I created one called ‘Outboard’ on an external disk. I option-relaunch the TV app, and choose the ‘Onboard’ library and, when I go back into Sharing preferences, it’s still saying that ‘Outboard’ is the currently selected library…

surely it should have updated to the name of the currently selected library?

[…] now it won’t boot…

I’m sorry to hear that. Get that fixed first, then come back to home sharing, if you want to continue with that.

[…] test the responsiveness of having my TV library on a larger, external disk.

You wouldn’t need a new library for external files. Just set the app preferences to not consolidate (new) library files to the internal disk. In my experience, responsiveness is fine, unless the external disk has to wake from sleep mode.
